Bio
Kurtys Kidd is a multi-dimensional performer whose creative evolution spans gritty punk clubs, surreal film sets, and some of Canada’s most intriguing musical projects. Based in Kingston, Ontario, Kurtys is back in the spotlight as a solo artist with his latest single Out On The Spiral Arm —bringing with him a deep catalogue of experiences as a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter.
He’s no stranger to musical risk. Over the years, Kurtys helped define the sound and style of bands like The Viletones, Vampire Beach Babes and The Death of Me. His work with The Death of Me—a dark, emotionally potent project with Julianne Partridge—garnered critical acclaim, landing the band a feature in SPIN Magazine’s 2007 list of “6 Bands to Watch.” That same year, they performed at San Francisco’s legendary Noise Pop Festival, a proving ground for innovative indie acts.
Now as a solo artist, Kurtys is expanding his creative boundaries even further. His music crosses genres with ease, blending raw rock energy with experimental textures and introspective lyrics. His latest single Out On The Spiral Arm, the first track off his upcoming full-length album This Dirty Machine. The new music promises gritty guitar, emotional songwriting and a complete work in this themed album.
His last track, the blistering Mary, which just buzzed for 6 straight weeks in the Top 40 at PetRock Radio and garnered him a nomination for "Breakout Artist of the Year". These songs highlight a sound that is both unfiltered and sonically distinct.
Kurtys is also a veteran of the screen. He’s appeared in series such as Murdoch Mysteries, What We Do in the Shadows, Earth: Final Conflict, La Femme Nikita, and PSI Factor, often portraying roles as intense and layered as his music.
Whether in the studio, on stage, or in front of a camera, Kurtys Kidd delivers performances rooted in authenticity, imagination, and a relentless passion for storytelling. With a new solo chapter unfolding, he is poised to reach audiences in bold, unexpected ways.
